Take a look at our digital editing experiments : (Module 16)
Between my own version of the original manipulated picture below, and the version ChatGPT had described, i believe that ChatGPT had come up with the most realistic and similar version of the original image. I believe this is due to the fact that AI models can portray a more idealistic and close knit version of an image and its description due to the fact that it is trained and specified on what exactly to do. It has no limits, unlike humans, who are limited to their own personal knowledge and experiences that make us unique in our abilities to describe the photographs.
My description of the original image: 'The image portrays a valley of mountains in a vast expansive area, with birds flying high in the centre. The manipulation is from the two planets that I believe are two moons. They have been blended, structured and blurred into the image, places in the sky on the right side near the clouds. There are no two moons or two planets in the sky, in the same place, side by side, at the same time, proving that in this context, the image has been modified. I believe it was done by digital editing, by taking the outline of the two moons which I believe were made through digital drawings, and then placing and blurring/blending them into a picture portraying a massive/vast area of mountains. I also believe these mountains could also be digitally created and placed and blurred into the image, although the front of the image showing brown land proves to be realistic."
ChatGPT's desdescription of the original image: The image depicts a dramatic landscape with a large, detailed moon or planet visible in the sky, much larger than one would see on Earth. This celestial body is close, with visible textures resembling geographical features. In the foreground are desert-like rock formations and sparse vegetation, suggesting a dry environment. A range of layered mountains recedes into the background under a blue-hued sky. A small flock of birds is in flight, adding a sense of life and movement to the scene. The overall atmosphere is otherworldly and serene, suggesting a scene from a science fiction setting.

(Module 19)
The presentation linked above dives into the potential of Africa in terms of environmental conservation, resource utilization, technological innovation, and leadership overall. The speaker passionately advocates for a transformative vision of Africa, emphasizing the continent's untapped wealth, ecological richness, and the vital role of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving sustainable development. This vision for Africa is articulated effectively, using clear examples and invoking a sense of urgency and possibility that is both inspiring and compelling.
The timing and pacing of the presentation are structured to maintain engagement and convey key points at strategic moments. The speaker includes and emphasizes on questions, such as "How do we do it?" (Gichuru, 2010), at intervals, by increasing volume and depth, to fully emphasize critical ideas and maintain the audience's attention. The presentation flows at a steady rhythm, neither too fast or too slow, allowing the audience to absorb the information while staying engaged. This pacing supports the delivery of the content by building a narrative that gradually unfolds the speaker's vision, outlining the challenges, and presenting actionable solutions.
The style of the presentation is formal yet motivational and conversational as well. The speaker uses a conversational tone that makes the content accessible and relatable by asking the audience questions directly. This style is effective in making the audience feel directly addressed and involved in the discussion. The use of personal references to specific locations, and direct engagement with the audience ("can we see some hands" (Gichuru, 2010) enhances the conversational and inclusive nature of the presentation. Visual aids are incorporated within the presentation's content, in order to support the text as well, which are clear, legible and supportive. This ensures that the audience can visually connect with the points being made.
Technically, the presentation has no fault towards sound and video, the only issues could be with slight microphone feedback as well as with the video becoming less pixelated over time. The consistent and legible style across different mediums within the presentation (spoken word, text and photographs) shows that the presentation was well prepared and executed with attention to detail. This technical proficiency ensures that the audience's focus remains on the content, further enhancing the effectiveness of the presentation.
